Job Description:

This position is responsible for the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's retirement benefits programs. Recommends new and/or improved programs, processes, plans and cost-saving measures based on market findings and best practices. Ensures compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefit programs, annual plan document updates and is responsible for assisting with the comprehensive employee benefits communication strategy. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the employee experience Assist in the development and implementation of the long term benefits strategy Plan, research and design retirement benefit programs to ensure long term financial success of the organization and deliver market competitive programs to employees by incorporating latest developments in the field while balancing financial impact on Company, financial impact on employees, and administrative burden Generate and foster key partnerships across the Company (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Payroll, HRIS, Human Resources, Legal) in support of effective management of retirement programs Development and delivery of innovative communication campaigns to ensure employees understand the value of the retirement program from a total rewards perspective Responsible for selection support and management of retirement benefits consultants, brokers and third party benefit administrators and provider partners Coordinate and support the Quarterly Retirement Investment Committee meetings Oversee the retirement plan funding in a timely and accurate manner Develop and manage effective project plans to execute leadership decisions in partnership with internal teams and external provider partners Establish and conduct recurring stewardship meetings with provider partners Research best practices and trends in the retirement field and prepare recommendations annually for consideration by Charter leadership Establish metrics for monitoring the effectiveness of benefit plans and program changes Prepare executive summary reports and proactively provide thoughtful leadership updates Assist with the establishment of the annual company-wide benefits retirement budget and prepare spend analysis Ensure legal compliance of benefit programs, reporting and disclosure; including annual plan document updates and notifications Ensure accurate and timely preparation and filing of required regulatory reports and employee disclosures Partner with Strategic Procurement and Legal on provider partner contract review and negotiation to ensure contracts are executed timely with applicable performance guarantees in place Lead and mentor Retirement team members Develop programs designed to keep employees informed about company retirement plans and any proposed changes Perform other duties as requested REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge In-depth knowledge of state and federal laws affecting retirement benefits Strong understanding of varied approaches to funding retirement benefit programs (funded, rabbi trust arrangements) Ability to effectively analyze and interpret data Critical thinking Understanding of financial concepts and processes in general and specific to the benefits arena Ability to communicate complex, technical issues, programs, etc. to each level of the organization from front line employees to senior executives Ability to influence senior leaders Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner Project management expertise Strong presentation skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, as well as prioritize and organize tasks of team to effectively meet all deadlines Ability to supervise and motivate others Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Advanced degree preferred CEBS Certification strongly desired Related Work Experience Number of Years Experience managing large company retirement programs 8-10 People and department management experience 5 WORKING CONDITIONS Office Environment Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
