Job Title: Optical Technician (Optician) Company: Clarkson Eyecare Location: Florissant, MO 63031 Training Provided No medical/eyecare experience required! You may have to work a little earlier/later as needed Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Favorable result on Background Check Basic computer skills Strong customer service skills Excitement to learn and grow Essential Functions: Promote frames and lenses recommended by the doctor to meet patient needs Adjust and repair glasses Facilitate patient flow Verify medical and vision insurances Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in person requests An Optical Technician (Optician) will achieve a world class Total Patient Experience that both maximizes the retail sales but also supports the patients medical needs. This employee is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. They connect the patient needs to the good and services we offer. Responsibilities: 60% Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support Determine patient wants and needs and selling to exceed their expectations Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions Able to operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs Can accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames Dispense all glasses and/or contact lens orders in E360 20% Assist with other duties in the office as needed General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager Ensure all job Aids and Policies are followed 20% Acknowledge patients in a friendly, approachable way that invites them into the office Maintain frame standards with cleaning, organization, full and well-presented areas Follow all protocols to keep Frame inventory accurate Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required Associates Degree preferred Minimum of 1 year in a customer interactive position; or equivalent combination of education and experience Basic computer skills Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret insurance forms Favorable result on Background Check required Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Have ABOC or obtained with first 2 years of employment (preferred, not required) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization HIPPA: All Associates must comply with the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) as it pertains to disclosures of protected health information (PHI) as described in the Notice of Privacy Practices and HIPPA Privacy Policies and Procedures Physical Requirements: Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching Ability to move throughout the office Ability to remain standing for long periods of time Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves If you need help performing these functions of your job, please contact supervisor so that we may engage in the interactive process with you and find a reasonable accommodation Work Environment: Calculate, manipulate, and interpret numbers/data Problem solve, reason and resolve issues effectively Use independent judgment and discretion Meet customer expectations Work under stress with interruptions and deadlines Use computer effectively and view computer screen Exhibit empathy in all situations Work changing schedules to meet business demands If you need assistance with this application, please contact [phone removed].
